[Reminder to Optometrists and Opticians] Scam Alert – Stay Vigilant against Scam Calls or Emails
31 January 2024
Important security warning about scams targeting eye care professionals. Learn to identify and protect yourself from fraudulent calls and emails impersonating OOB officials.
Dear Optometrists and Opticians
The Optometrists and Opticians Board (OOB) would like to clarify that it does not contact registered optometrists and opticians via telephone calls. OOB communicates with optometrists and opticians via emails sent from the OOB’s enquiry email address at OOB@spb.gov.sg on registration and practising certificate (PC) matters.
Optometrists and opticians are further advised to log in to the Professional Registration System (PRS) on the OOB’s website to check their registration and PC validity status.
OOB reminds optometrists and opticians to stay vigilant against scam calls or emails and do not click or scan suspicious links / QR codes. If you receive such scam calls or emails, you are advised to contact the Police at their anti-scam helpline at 1800-722-6688 or go to www.scamalert.sg.
