Updated Supervisory Framework Guidelines 2022

Learn about updated requirements, protocols, and standards for supervisors and supervisees.
The Optometrists and Opticians Board (the “Board”) has updated its Supervisory Framework Guidelines for new provisionally registered optometrists and opticians (“supervisees”) whose registration takes effect from 1 October 2022.
In summary, there is a change on the submission frequency of the assessment reports (also known as “supervisor’s reports”) for new supervisees whose registration starts from 1 October 2022:

Current Submission Frequency of Supervisor’s Reports | New Submission Frequency-Minimum Supervision Period of Supervisor’s Reports | |

All work settings | Every Three (3) Months, or whenever there is a change of employment and/ or supervisor by supervisee. | Every Six (6) Months, or whenever there is a change of employment by supervisee and/ upon request by the Board. |
Exceptional workplace settings where the appointment of secondary supervisor is required by the Board | Every One (1) Month, or whenever there is a change of employment and/ or supervisor by supervisee. | Every Three (3) Months, or whenever there is a change of employment by supervisee and/ upon request by the Board. |
3 Current supervisees whose registration started before 1 October 2022 are not affected by the change.
